A wheelchair friendly car for this loving family

Hi my name is Shannon and I am fundraising for my dear friend Sky who has 4 beautiful children.

They have been living for the last 2 years with a car that cannot fit her whole family in it. Her second eldest child is severely disabled and did receive a wheelchair that allows him to be able to get around easier however it does not fit in the boot.

They need to fold down the back seats to be able to fit in the wheelchair which means the family is having to do multiple trips to get somewhere together.

This family has been doing it tough through crisis and relocating after homelessness in Brisbane, and having 3 of the children with genetic condition 22.q.11 dna deletion and ASD.

This presents differently for each of them, however the second eldest is severely disabled and completely dependent on Sky. He gets all of his nutrition via his gastrostomy feeding tube called a Mic-key button, in his stomach, he is double incontinent, in nappies 24/7, which means Sky changes and cleans him, responsible for all of his hygiene.

He is completely Non verbal, and has the intellectual capacity of around a 3 month old. He can walk a little, not like you or I, and he crawls but has to be in a wheelchair whenever he leaves the house, due to instability, fatigue and he has no concept of safety in any capacity.

His environment has to be completely controlled, and he can not be left alone even if the person caring for him needs to run to the loo.

Sky has multiple appointments each week for all of them. Though her eldest son's are at the moment so difficult to get to that she is trying to find ways to work around them with his specialist.

They are very excited to have found a car that will fit in the wheelchair as well as has 2 sliding doors so they can access the seats from either side. Having raised half the money, they hoped to be able to get in it soon however with Christmas around the corner, the family has realised it may be a while to go.
