It is with immense sorrow and disbelief that we received this devastating news. We learned that Jonathan Rivera, also known as “JR”, along with his wife and 5-year-old son, have been the victims of a tragic and senseless act of violence. This heartbreaking incident occurred Sunday morning at their residence. This tragedy has left us in shock and with deep sadness. JR has been an integral part of the Sunshine family for over 5 years, contributing. Tirelessly to the upkeep and maintenance of our centers, specifically Willis Avenue, but most importantly, he was a friend and dedicated father. His hard work and positive spirit made a significant impact on the entire team. You could always find him laughing and supporting teachers as needed, giving high-fives to the students and welcoming parents, always going above and beyond. JR would bring his son Kayden to the center and introduce us to him. JR was not just a dedicated and hardworking member of our team; he was also a loving, and devoted father who took great pride in his role as a parent. Many of us had the privilege of witnessing the beautiful bond he shared with his son, a Sunshine alumnus and the pride and joy he expressed while talking about his family. The loss of JR and his family is an unimaginable tragedy, and our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. During this challenging time let us come together and support each other through this grief. We appreciate all support to the Rivera family and all funds will go to JR daughter's Khriselynn J. Rivera, Stephanie A. Rivera. Thier mother name is Stephanie Novarro. JR and his family’s will live on in our memories, and we will strive to carry forward the positivity and warmth he brought to our team.
