South Bay of San Diego once had a robust and vibrant springboard diving community. Two pools in Chula Vista held diving events attended by hundreds in the 1970s. Many young residents practiced and excelled in the sport during those days. Even an Olympic Gold medalist, Greg Louganis, trained here for a bit as a youngster.

Then, in the following decades, diving boards disappeared from most South Bay public and private aquatic centers. Since COVID, there have been no springboard diving clubs in the entire county of San Diego south of the 52.

But that is about to change.

Coach Dan Kovar, a diver from the South Bay and coach for 3 decades, has partnered with SOL Aquatics and Southwestern College to establish a club for springboard diving in San Diego's South Bay.

All funds raised will be used for the club and are essential for the club's growth and development. Proceeds received above operating expenses may be used for diver scholarships to offset club fees based on demonstrated need. Your donation would be greatly appreciated.
