Help Families in Need This Holiday Season

Donation protected
As the season of giving is upon us, we wanted to provide our community with an opportunity to support families in need in relation to our work with The Child Abuse Prevention Council of Contra Costa County. Every year, our organization "adopts" several families who are clean and sober and working hard through the child welfare system to reunite with their families. Due to inflation and need, we would like to give these families some additional resources to help them through this season and into the New Year. Any funds we raise will be given to these families in grocery store gift cards. Fulfilling basic needs and alleviating stress factors can make an immense difference in the lives of these families.

See below for an example of one of the families you can help this holiday season.

CAPC’s Parent Partner program was designed to enlist mothers and fathers who have experienced child removal, services and reunification to work with other parents currently involved in the system. The Parent Partners are trained and supported to provide direct services to parent clients seeking reunification with their children. One such parent client struggled with substance abuse and sought to reunite with her child. Here is a quote from her trained Parent Partner: “After several weeks of continued use, mom finally reached her bottom, and got into treatment. With more sobriety, she was able to take responsibility. From then on there was no stopping her! She did everything that was suggested to her and more. Being very involved with church and NA meetings, soon she was supporting other women involved with CFS. After 18 months of positively navigating her case, she had her son back at home. Her case was vacated and dismissed. She is so extremely grateful to have had this experience, and feels this is what got her sober. We still speak about twice a month. She continues to grow, and expresses her desire to want to help.”
