Help Maria Mahady Fight Ovarian Cancer!

Hi, my name is Kayla and I am asking for your help on behalf of my friend Maria Mahady – she was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

For many years prior, Maria struggled with health concerns that seemed to have no clear answers. She had a hysterectomy for excessive pain and a large fibroid in her uterus in 2022. Maria was hopeful this surgery would minimize the negative physical symptoms she had been experiencing. During this surgery, the surgeon discovered and diagnosed Maria with endometriosis. Unfortunately, Maria continued to struggle after her hysterectomy. A good friend recommended an endometriosis specialist, who was a true breath of fresh air. The provider tackled her treatment options with a validating approach. Maria underwent an exploratory excision of endometriosis tissue in October 2023. During the surgery, there was a significant amount of endometriosis tissue discovered throughout her abdomen, ovaries, and bowel region. The tissue was removed and sent for further testing. This led to the unfortunate diagnosis of ovarian cancer- granulosa cell tumor. To determine the cancer stage, Maria is awaiting MRI results and another surgery scheduled for early December.

Maria is a loving single-mother to her son Sebastian, super auntie to many nieces and nephews, and a caring friend to many. She gives a lot of time, attention, and support to others. Currently, we are asking to do the same for her. Maria is about to face many health and financial hurdles. Let’s come together to support the person we love!
