Finding A New Heart for Tim Christ
Donation protected
My name is Hanna, and my big brother Tim is currently receiving care at Tufts Medical Center for complications related to cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. He will remain in the hospital while he waits for a heart transplant.
Tim, his wife Meghan, and their beautiful 2-year-old daughter Holly need as many prayers and positive thoughts as possible. Read on for words from Meg, and please consider supporting our family in any way you can.
"We have always said that it takes a village. My husband, Tim, has been on the heart transplant list for 10 years. 10 years... a blessing, really. Those 10 years have afforded us the opportunity to build a life together, to get married, to buy a home, to start a family. All while Tim enjoyed a great quality of life.
Unfortunately, in recent months, Tim’s heart health has declined. His medications are no longer enough to keep him stable, and he is struggling to do the basic daily activities. We recently made the tough but very necessary decision for him to make the journey from our home in the White Mountains of NH down to Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA.
We had hoped his hospital stay would be short-term, but we've quickly learned that just isn't in the cards. Tim will remain at Tufts for the foreseeable future, where he is currently reliant on a mechanical device to pump blood more efficiently, until he can be matched with a heart donor. We are hopeful this will make him the healthiest he can be when the time comes for a transplant. From start to finish, this process can often take anywhere from 6-months to 1-year.
While Tim is in Boston, I am caring for our beautiful, smart, precocious 2-year-old little girl, on top of caring for my own patients several days a week as an ICU nurse. I anticipate traveling to Boston frequently, and on one income, I will bear the burden of childcare, medical expenses, and cost-of-living.
Tim and I are currently living through the thing that has kept us up at night for 10 years. We can do our best to plan for things like this, but no one can ever be prepared to climb a mountain of mental, physical, financial, and emotional challenges when they erupt all at once."
Please consider contributing to this fundraiser to ease the burden on Tim, Meg, and Holly as my family does everything we can to get Tim to the other side of this. It truly does take a village. Thank you.
