Kim Lewis Gay

Hi, my name is Darren, I am Kim's older brother. 2 days ago my brother had a heart attack and he will not be surviving this condition. As part of Kim's life he has always been a giving person, with that said, he is in the organ donor program. His wishes are to have a military funeral. I am in the process of organizing it now.

Kim was very proud that he was a marine. On November 10, 2023 he got a steppingstone at a Veterans Memorial Site along the Interurban trail in the Pacific, Washington with his name…. He often talked about his “brothers” that he had as his extended family. You could tell he loved them all. Even though I was from the Army, he got me to say……SEMPER FI!

In his work world, his Local 528 Cement Masons union workers were everything too. He loved talking about what building was going up in Bellevue or other locations. He was so proud of his work, and he would tell us about what a great group of people he got to work with every day. I’ve reached out to the union so that we can donate his cement tools/equipment to the apprentice program and will arrange this after this week.

As most of you may know his passion was hiking! He had just purchased some nice hiking gear that was weather proofed so he could enjoy the year around. We were so grateful to have him share the holiday of Thanksgiving again this year with us and that is what is important. Spending time with family and friends.

This week is a bit of a blur to say the least. I have to work out all of the details and will be working with the VA directly to have a nice military ceremony. I am finalizing things in the next day or so. We are in the process of taking care of moving all of Kim’s belongings too and finalizing his world. All of the donations will go to Tunnels to Towers.
