Help restore your heritage

St Mary's Church, Droylsden has been the parish church since 1848. You may have been baptised or married there or attended other services.

The outside stone wall that surrounds the Church and grounds was erected in 1857 to celebrate the end of the Crimean War and was paid for by public subscription. Our memorial wall was therefore paid for by your ancestors and has stood for over 165 years.

Unfortunately in the recent past the wall has suffered from a number of acts of criminal damage. The repair cost for these repairs was mainly covered by insurance claims.

However, in the past week the wall has been damaged further. To avoid an escalation in our insurance premium we are looking to cover the costs of this repair through the generosity of our local community. If you are able to support this fundraiser you can help to restore the heritage and memorial wall which your ancestors provided for.

At the same time please be our eyes and ears and if you see any further criminal damage in and around the church building please report it to the police.
