Donate to help Diane get a kidney transplant

Hi, my name is Jeanette and I'm fundraising for my sister Diane, who needs our help.

Diane is on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. At this time, health insurance will cover the extraordinary cost of transplantation, and she has the "out of pocket" copay saved up. However insurance and savings will not cover all expenses.

She and her caregiver will spend the first 4-6 weeks in a hotel near the hospital to quickly respond to signs of rejection. She will also need to make frequent trips to the hospital for checkups and adjustments to medications during those critical first weeks.

We need to raise about $10k to cover all her non-medical expenses, such as lodging, meals, transportation, and other unexpected costs. We greatly appreciate any contribution you can make to help smooth this already stressful event in Diane’s life.

Her story

Diane is a kind and generous mother of 7 and grandmother of 6. She never thinks twice before helping others but now she needs our help.

Two years ago Diane experienced a sudden and unexpected drop in her kidney function. After several months of trying to get back on her feet and get rid of the fluid that was backing up in her body and lungs (40lbs worth) she was shocked to learn "you are going to need a kidney transplant". The goal is to have a "preemptive" transplant. Before her kidneys fail completely, before she needs dialysis. Currently she's "hanging in there".

The fluid is gone, and she mostly feels good. But it won't last. She has been on the transplant list accumulating time since January 2023, inactive while she completed a checklist of vaccinations and other tests. She was activated on the list in October 2023 and was told to be ready. Her blood type has the shortest wait time, so it can happen at any time. So now we wait.

Meanwhile, we prepare
