Birdhill Wren Group - Milford Hospice Fundraiser
Donation protected
Each St.Stephen's Day, it has become tradition for the Birdhill Wren group to travel in numbers around the North Tipperary/Limerick areas 'Hunting the Wren'.
We usually start the day off by two concerts in both Millbrae Lodge and Ashlawn Nursing homes before making our way onto various Limerick/North Tipperary pubs, GAA centres and public areas where we play music, sing songs and bring plenty of craic and energy to various establishments. The long day usually ends up back at base in Coopers' bar Birdhill in the early hours of the morning!
Throughout the day, each year we strive to fundraise as much as we can for Milford Hospice and over the past 30 years have raised sums of upto €10,000, with a small donation usually made towards the local Senior Citizen's party also.
Given the circumstances this year and the restrictions surrounding Covid-19, the usual St. Stephen's Day routine cannot be completed. However, members of the Birdhill Wren Group have come up with some great imaginative ways to bring Music, song, dance, recitation and craic to the people this Christmas! Members of the group have been compiling videos that will be shared through social media and a concert video will be played in the Nursing Homes on St.Stephen's Day.
There will also be various other initiatives organized by local groups to spread the word this Christmas and raise money for a great cause.
All support is greatly appreciated and we hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!
