Kevin Kennelly Jr. Memorial Scholarship

As you all know, we lost Kevin F. Kennelly Jr. in 2011 and his family and friends have established a Scholarship Fund in Kevin's name. The fund will award annual scholarships to Mt. Carmel High School to eighth grade students who embrace the ideals of family, work, tradition, and community as Kevin did throughout his young life. While two scholarships were awarded in 2012, thanks to the support of both community residents and businesses, twenty scholarships totaling $33,000 were recently awarded to local eighth grade students entering Mt. Carmel this fall.

Like last year, there are two upcoming events being held in July in support of the scholarship fund:

· The second annual "Keepin' On for KFK" 16-inch softball tournament with both Men's & Women's Divisions, which will be held on Saturday, July 13^th, at Kennedy Park and,
· Tuesday, July 23rd White Sox vs. Tigers baseball outing
· Saturday, October 5th Nelly Open at Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park (more details to come)

In addition to the events, I am participating in the Chicago Olympic Triathlon on August 25^th and see it as a great opportunity to help raise funds for the Memorial Scholarship honoring Kevin.
