38th and Chicago Business Relief Fund

We need your help! The Central Area Neighborhood and Development Organization (CANDO) is willing to match all donations up to an overall total of $25,000 for local businesses.

After the initial civil uprising and continued protesting that has followed in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, many low-income businesses are struggling to stay open. While there has been a tremendous outpouring of support to our low-income business owners on Lake Street, little attention has been paid to our businesses (many of them Black-owned) within the 38th Street and Chicago corridor. With little financial support, many of them are facing closure due to reduced sales as our neighbors continue to fight for justice. Therefore, these funds are intended to be a rapid response for businesses to use toward payment of rent, payroll, or other business-related expenses while organizers continue their work. With your help, we can keep our businesses afloat!
