In Loving Memory of Jorge Rodriguez

In September 2021, My father was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma cancer. He endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy and experimental drugs to cure many infections he developed as a result of, however on July 15, 2022 he surrendered to his illness and peacefully passed away. Although he passed unexpectedly quickly as a result of multi-organ failure due to acquired HLH, he fought till his last breath.

My father Jorge was an immigrant from Mexico who strove to achieve his dream of being a small business owner and providing a better life for his family. He accomplished that dream alongside my mother and owned a restaurant called Zefe's Mexican Restaurant. He was a kind, silly, gentle giant who always looked out for others and did everything he could to help those around him move forward in life. He loved being around family and recording special moments more than anything. His friendly demeanor allowed him to make friends wherever he went. At the end of the day, all he knew and loved to do was work, be around family and make connections.

Nothing could have prepared us for this terrible loss. I am creating this GoFundMe in hopes that family, friends, and those that have had the pleasure to meet and or learn from my father will come together to support our grieving family through this devasting tragedy. As we navigate the process of having to lay our father to rest, I humbly ask for your support and prayers. Any donation is greatly appreciated as it will help with my father's remaining medical expenses and financial support for my mother. I don't think we will ever understand why cancer chose our father but all we know is that we will process this loss as best as we can and will move forward honoring our father the best way we know how.

En septiembre de 2021, a mi padre le diagnosticaron cáncer de linfoma de células T. Soportó múltiples rondas de quimioterapia y medicamentos experimentales para curar muchas infecciones que desarrolló como resultado, sin embargo, el 15 de julio de 2022 se rindió a su enfermedad y falleció en paz. Aunque falleció inesperadamente rápido como resultado de una falla multiorgánica debido a la HLH adquirida, luchó hasta su último aliento. Mi padre Jorge era un inmigrante de México que se esforzó por lograr su sueño de ser dueño de una pequeña empresa y brindarle una mejor vida a su familia. Logró ese sueño junto con mi madre y era dueño de un restaurante llamado Zefe's Mexican Restaurant. Era un gigante amable, tonto y gentil que siempre cuidaba de los demás e hizo todo lo posible para ayudar a quienes lo rodeaban a avanzar en la vida. Le encantaba estar con la familia y grabar momentos especiales más que nada. Su comportamiento amistoso le permitió hacer amigos donde quiera que fuera. Al final del día, todo lo que sabía y amaba hacer era trabajar, estar cerca de la familia y hacer conexiones. Nada podría habernos preparado para esta terrible pérdida. Estoy creando este GoFundMe con la esperanza de que familiares, amigos y aquellos que han tenido el placer de conocer o aprender de mi padre se unan para apoyar a nuestra familia en duelo a través de esta devastadora tragedia. Mientras navegamos por el proceso de tener que enterrar a nuestro padre para que descanse, humildemente pido su apoyo y oraciones. Cualquier donación es muy apreciada ya que ayudará con los gastos médicos restantes de mi padre y apoyo financiero para mi madre. No creo que nunca entendamos por qué el cáncer eligió a nuestro padre, pero todo lo que sabemos es que procesaremos esta pérdida lo mejor que podamos y seguiremos honrando a nuestro padre de la mejor manera que sepamos.
