Nunez Family Home Fire
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
Our beloved Nadia and Micheline Nunez, two working single mothers and their families, lost everything in a house fire on Sunday, August 21st. The incident took place in Ozone Park, Queens, NY. The fire went to a second alarm which led to 25 units and 106 firefighters responding to try to end the blaze.
Nadia is a single mother of two young children, Elizabeth and Christian, who have now lost the only home they have ever known. Not only was this Nadia's home for 20 years but it was also the home of her sister Micheline, her partner, her son, and her father, who were also living in the house - they are all now displaced.
The family at the center of this devastating situation is well known and loved by all.
Members of the community who know the family have lovely things to say about how welcome they always felt when visiting their home. From intimate get-togethers to large gatherings, this family knows how to make everyone feel comfortable and included. It's no wonder they're so loved by all who know them.
They are a close, loving family that treats everyone as if they were family as well.
No one in the family suffered injuries, but the pets weren't so lucky. The fire affected Toby and Mimi (cats), suffering lung and eye injuries. Toby was found under rubble 5 hours later.
The home has insurance but minimal coverage, leaving them with little help to rebuild what they have lost. The house will take over a year to rebuild.
We are reaching out to the Ozone Park Community, friends, family and anyone who would like to support the Nunez family during this difficult time.
All donations will go towards finding Nadia's family a place to live and getting them back on their feet through things like clothes, food, and other essentials they may need.
Please donate now and help spread the word about this campaign. Thank you so much for your support!
