Help Jennifer with her Medical Expenses
Donation protected
On Monday, June 26th Jennifer was taken to the ER with chest pains. By the time she arrived at the ER, she was no longer able to move her arm or legs. Within 45 min she was rushed by ambulance to North Memorial Hospital straight to the Cath lab to see if she had a heart attack. It came back that she was initially diagnosed with Broken Heart Syndrome (Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy) and her heart was only operating at 26 percent. She was intubated and admitted to the ICU. After 2 days there and after conversations with the Drs, they decided to do an MRI which uncovered the real problems. She had suffered a Spinal Stroke (Spinal AVM). She was intubated for a week in multiple ICU units. The heart has since healed itself, but it was discovered that she has no feeling from the waist down. She has been working with Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy to try to get home. Unfortunately, she is not at that point just yet. On August 2nd she will be moving to a more intensive in-patient therapy center to continue her efforts to return home. The Drs are not certain whether or not she will recover the use of her legs at this time. She has been told that either way, she will be out of work for at least a year. The family is in the process of trying to convert the home to accommodate the use of a wheelchair and her needs. Thank you for reading her story. Donations will be used for the medical bills that are starting to come in, those yet to come and the modifications to the house.
