Driver Viciously Assaulted By Passenger

On August the 5th 2020, Raymond Adjetey, a master's degree student and a part-time driver was beaten, slashed on the face, and assaulted by a passenger he picked.
Raymond picked the passenger on 184th Jerome Avenue in the Bronx around 10:11 pm. The passenger was on the phone and he appeared very angry as he argued with his girlfriend. Raymond took the passenger to the address given to him by the passenger. The passenger insisted that he was at the wrong place, the passenger gave Raymond a second address in which Raymond took him to without charging him extra. Again, the passenger insisted he was at the wrong address.
The passenger was angry and blamed Raymond for taking him to the wrong place; even though he was at his desired address (for the second time). Raymond told the passenger that he was sorry and could not continue the trip. The passenger was very angry and aggressive telling Raymond that he would "beat the shit out of you" if he did not move the car. The passenger immediately attacked Raymond -- beating him restlessly. He hit him with his phone so hard that the screen of the phone cracked. Raymond ended up getting bruises around the back of his head(Occiput) from the physical assault.
The passenger took an orange box cutter knife from his pocket and told Raymond to move the car else he would stab him. Out of fear for his life, Raymond proceeded to the passengers' third address. The passenger proceeded to insult and threaten Raymond as he drove him to the third destination -- insisting he would cut him if he stopped the car. When Raymond reached Tracy Towers, Bronx, he quickly out of the car and told the passenger that he will call the police if he didn't get down. The passenger quickly got out of the car and told Raymond not to call the police -- insisting “IF I GET ARRESTED FOR BEATING YOU UP, I WILL DO 7 YEARS IN PRISON; SO I WILL RATHER GIVE YOU A SCARE IN YOUR FACE AND EVEN IF I GET ARRESTED I KNOW THAT YOU ALSO HAVE A MARK IN YOUR FACE".
Within a blink of an eye, the passenger cut Raymond with the box cutter causing a laceration on Raymond’s face. The passenger then ran away. Witnesses called 911 and he was rushed into the emergency room. The surgeon and the medical team tried their best to stitch the wound but the aftereffect is that he has to follow up with a plastic surgeon to do skin grafting or laser skin procedure to prevent a scare from indenting in his face. The medical procedures are not covered by Raymond’s Public insurance -- he is forced to cover these expenses.
NYPD is currently investigating the case.
