Together for India
Donation protected
India is a beautiful place and home to everything from deserts and majestic mountain ranges to jungles, forests, and tropical, palm-fringed coastline. In addition, it is a place where you'll find languages, cuisine, customs, and clothing as diverse as the topography.
I visited India in 2013, and it forever moved and shaped me.
Covid-19 has impacted everyone globally, but it has impacted India in ways that are immeasurable.
India needs our help.
India needs our help and I felt compelled to do my part to assist with this situation.
Over the next little while, I will be offering a variety of yoga classes and workshops to help raise funds in support of the Covid-19 efforts in India.100% of the donations received will be donated to an organization I had the pleasure of working with when I was there, Goonj .
Goonj recognizes and values the potential of local resources and traditional wisdom of people. Their focus is concentrated on the receiver’s dignity instead of the donor’s pride. They promote a circular economy by ensuring maximum use of all funds and donated items. They value collaborative efforts with partner organizations in an effort to increase effectiveness and scale. Goonj views every entity as an equal stakeholder in the process of development rather than observing hierarchical relationships.
Goonj is globally renowned (even the New York Times has written about them) for its community efforts and impact. I have seen what they do and I am confident in their ability to help with Rahat Covid 2021.
With the country bearing witness to a severe second wave of Covid-19, the situation on-ground has been grimmer as compared to last year. The Goonj teams all over India are well-equipped with the knowledge and experience to reach out to the affected communities whilst adhering to all safety precautions and guidelines.
Even though many of us live outside of India, the people there are still part of our village and I feel it is our duty to show up for them at this time.
Please consider contributing to this cause. All donations are welcome.
As mentioned, I am incentivizing individuals to contribute by offering yoga classes and workshops. Below is a list of options available, should you wish to donate.
You do not have to participate in the yoga component at all. You can simply donate as you wish.
My modest goal is to raise $1000, but my actual goal is $10,000 (that would be a dream).
Please feel free to contact me with any questions and feel free to spread the word.
Thank you kindly for your generosity at this time.
