Save our Baby Duke

This is the story of Duke... 7 years ago, my sister and I found a abused and malnourished dog in front of our house. My neighbors and my family take turns on taking in pets that are frequently dropped off. But both of our families were skeptical at first. This puppers was a pitbull, and based on no prior experience with one and the public opinion about this particular breed, we were reluctant to keep him. We called our local shelter asking if they would take him and find him a good home. Their response was if we were to bring him in, they would put him down. We decided to keep him, because we couldn't send this precious boy to his death. We ended up naming him Duke. He grew out of being skittish, was super good to all babies that came around, he eats out of the same bowl as our kitties that we also rescued, and even saved our sweet neighbors boy from being attacked by geese. We have experienced the best 7 years with our baby boy. This morning, my boyfriend found our baby convulsing, incoherent, bleeding, and in the state of shock. We initially suspected our baby was ran over by a car. But when we took him to the vet, we never in a million years thought someone would try to murder/shoot our sweet baby and leave him for dead. We know who did this to our precious fur baby, and have determined that this was nothing more than a hate crime against Pitbulls. Anyone who has come to know Duke, knows that he would never hurt anyone or anything. He is the sweetest dog. Pitbull's are a under appreciated breed of dogs. Duke is only expected to have a 10% chance at life, because he has a bullet lodged in his chest. His body temperature has increased from how low it was, but we are unsure if it is because he's getting better or he has developed an infection from the bullet. We ask for your continued prayers and we appreciate all of your support and messages we have received. We will continue to keep everyone updated on the condition of our Dukey. We are currently struggling with finding ways of payment to keep our boy alive. Any donation means the world to us and especially our boy who has more life in him. Those who share and donate will receive a thank you card from our Dukey.
