3D Printed Face Shield donations for hospitals
Donation protected
I am working around the clock to make 3D Printed Face Shields using around 10 large 3D printers. I am dedicating my expertise and time to manufacture and donate 3D printed face shields to doctors and nurses that are in the front line fighting against Covid-19
I already donate hundreds of face shields to northwestern Hospital in Chicago and Cook county to distribute them. I have huge requests from many Chicago and New York area hospitals. Also I donated to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Mattoon IL and HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital Shelbyville IL
I am making thousands of 3D printed shields everything from scratch
All starts with plastic pallets that go into a dehumidifier drier for few hours . After that is mixed with red dry powder pigment and then the process of extruding filament begins. The 3D filament is spooled on 15 lb rolls by a winding and puller mechanism with speed control
After that each roll of filament feeds a 3D printer
I produce around 100 shields per day. My goal is to triple that
The funding will cover the shipping charges to hospitals, part of materials . Also will create another filament extrusion machine to keep pace with the demand for the 3D printers. Running 10 -3D printers simultaneous it is very difficult to maintain. Daily something has to be replaced from power supply to , cartridge heater or thermistor just to name a few parts . A part of funding will be used to acquire more PVC transparent film for the protective shield. Also to build few more 3D printers to join forges with the existing ones
My goal is to make few thousands face shields a week and distribute them to hospitals right away practically next day
My work featured in an article 3D Printing and COVID-19
