Brenda's Battle

Brenda Olson is going through another tough battle. A little bit about Brenda. She is a single mom with 21 year-old twins, Meg and Jenn. She is the most amazing mother you will ever meet. She is also a dedicated friend, sister, aunt, niece, and co-worker. She will go out of her way for anyone. She is the definition of kind, gentle and passionate. It's time for everyone to be kind to Brenda and help her out.
This is her story:
Brenda currentlyis battling ovarian cancer, but this is not her first round with cancer or medical issues. Back in 2011, Brenda battled a brain tumor. She overcame that battle, but the past two years have been even more of a challenge! In 2018 she had to have back surgery, which put her out on medical leave for a great deal of time. The recovery was long and painful. Then in 2019, they discovered that Brenda had thyroid cancer. This once again led to surgery and a great deal of time off of work. Shortly after this, due to a compromised immune system, she came down with shingles, and was out of work again. Then this past fall, Brenda tested positive for BRCA2 gene mutation. This mutation showed Brenda as a high risk for additional cancer. As a precaution, in December, she had to go in and have her tubes removed. Unfortunately, following the surgery, on Christmas Eve, she learned she had ovarian cancer. Two weeks ago, she had to go back in for another surgery to further remove lymph-nodes and the lining of her stomach. She is once again out of work for 4-6 weeks. Once she recovers from the current surgery, she has to start Chemo! Yes, the word we all are in fear of. She will have the first of her 6 treatments on March 3rd. They will continue every 3 weeks. Just one of the battles mentioned above is a lot, but the culmination of all these issues is more than one person should ever have to go through.
The amount of work that Brenda had to miss through all 3 major surgeries, and other medical issues has been financially devastating. Her current medical bills are very high, and while she is receiving some disability during this time it does not provide her with 100% pay, her personal bills are immense and growing. She is very humble and will not ask for help from anyone, but at this point, we need to help her.
Thank you to Jenn and Meg. They have been wonderful throughout the process, taking their mom to all of her medical appointments and her surgeries. Staying by her side as much as time allows. Thank you to work (Post Consumer Brands), for being so supportive of her situation, showering her with gifts and continued understanding. Thanks to her family and friends for all of the calls, messages, and gifts. This is getting her through all of these tough times.
Please consider supporting Brenda in her battle. Any small amount would be appreciated. It's time to end Brenda's battles!
