Help Bella with Medical Bills

On January 7, my sister 23 year old Bella Grinsell planned on meeting up with our cousin and having a fun, relaxing beach day just the evening before University started up again. She hopped on her beloved moped she’s had since freshmen year, admiring the beautiful views she’s missed over break, she drove into the back of a car that was stopped attempting to make a left turn, she swerved out of the way and ended up being hit but an oncoming car. What we know as of now is only a few witnesses statements not being able to speak with Bella, but we fear her moped breaks could be at fault. She went unconscious on impact as it left her with a broken femur, being the most painful and excruciating bones to break. Emts drivers quickly took her to The Queens hospital as a Jane Doe accessing her broken femur. Later stitching up her collar bone and shin. The crash resulting in major road rash and gashes that had to be patched up. She was placed on ventilator with a breathing tube and heavily sedated. The CT scan revealed a brain bleed and swelling of the brain, as well as a severe concussion. If she hadn’t gotten better in an hour she would have to have brain surgery to control swelling. Once she was identified the nurses called our mom Paulina asking to further identify, asking about her tattoos that hold so much meaning, as our mom is freaking out not knowing what is happening after just getting off the phone with Bella not an hour earlier, thinking this is a spam call to quickly thinking it’s a death call. Bella is currently in the ICU getting treated for all of her injuries. Her boyfriend Jan and our cousin Christy is staying as strong as they can comforting her while my mom and I are flying out from Oregon to go be with her. As they were talking to Bella they noticed her heart rate going up and Bella’s eyes fluttered every time they spoke. Bella is currently still on a ventilator and being monitored for a slight brain bleed, in the morning she’s expected to have surgery having a titanium rod placed to help secure her femur on her left side. We thank God her injuries were not life threatening but we understand this is not an easy journey and we are prepared to be with her for every step she has to take. Bella is an overly caring and kind human, hanging out with her for a day makes you want to do better and be greater. As someone’s who’s known her my whole life and seen her at her best and seeing her at her worst, I can truly and honestly say she is not done with this world. She’s the kind of person who used reusable cups and paper straws, wool dryer balls, thinks twice about getting a plastic bag, is constantly putting others in front of her own needs. She uses her wholesome smile and kind heart to try so hard to make anyone’s day just a little better. Bella has fallen in love with the culture and the unique islands of Hawaii, studying family resources and early childhood development for the last 5 years at the University of Hawaii. She wants to focus on those who are forgotten, planning to work with the homeless and foster children. Hoping to make the world a little sweeter and brighter. Unfortunately as a born and raised Oregonian her insurance does not get coverage in Hawaii, knowing this she has always been frugal with medical choices and most of the time it’s cheaper to get a flight back to Oregon. I wanted to get a Gofundme started before she’s awaken sometime this week, so that finances aren’t her top priority and she can focus on recovering. I hope that the community she loves so much and has opened her heart to cares just a little bit to help ease her stress and make this healing journey a bit easier on her. Your donation will be used for medical bills, physical therapy she’ll have to endure, and any other medical challenges she’s face.
January 8th Update: Isabella Grinsell was cleared to have surgery this morning on her femur, her slight head trama made today a tough day. She’d have bursts of up and down emotions and confusion, the nurse said she’s going to be like Dory from finding Nemo for the next few days. Bella’s main concern was feeling bad for stressing mom out and missing school, which we reassured her that healing and getting plenty of sleep is the main concern. ❤️ Doctors are hopeful that’s she’ll get back on her feet in the next week, working on using her leg right away. I am so grateful to have raised over $8,000 in the last 20 hours and just amazed at the love and support for our loving Bella. You never truly see the strength in the community around you until tragedy strikes. I’m hoping Bella will be able to start developing long term memories tomorrow and I can’t wait to see the look of relief on her face when she knows she is safe and everything is going to turn out okay. I want to thank every single person who shared and/or donated, and especially to those who kept her in their prayers. I know she’d do the same for me and probably execute it better. ❤️
