In September of 2021, my husband, Ronnie, was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. At that time, he had surgery to remove the colon mass and started chemotherapy (16 treatments altogether, spanning about a year). During treatments, Ronnie had to stay inside (avoid the sun & outdoors, which he loves) and due to COVID, he had to stay away from his family. He is a loving husband, father to Nathan Mark, Clint, and Jason, stepdad to Shelby, grandfather to Gavin, Avery, Nolan, Cameron, Lawson, Landry, Lincoln, and Elle and great grandfather to Elias. The time away from family was depressing.

After the chemo, all blood tests came back clean and we prayed we were in the clear. Unfortunately, a CT/PET scan showed it had spread to his liver, requiring two additional surgeries (in December of 2022) and one ablation (in early 2023). And just this week (March of 2024), we found out another surgery is needed to remove a mass in his liver.

We live in Jefferson, Texas and our medical team is MD Anderson in Houston, Texas - a four hour drive each way for each doctor's visit. At these visits, we stay in hotels near the hospital, pay for lodging, parking, meals, gas, and missed work. We've depleted our savings to cover these expenses so far, but are at our breaking point financially. This has been such an emotional journey, and we have made so many improvements to live the healthiest lifestyle we can. Any donation you give will allow us to keep our focus on fighting this disease, instead of how we will pay for it all.

I'm crying as I write our story. This has been a heart-breaking, scary roller coaster (that we didn't buy a ticket for). As soon as we think we're in the clear, we're pulled back the other direction. We don't want to be on this ride any more. But Ronnie is a fighter, and we are so grateful for our foundation of faith carrying us through this journey!
