3DPrint COVID19 PPE for Dayton Healthcare Workers

Due to the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) across the country, healthcare workers in hospitals and nursing homes in our community need protection from COVID-19. Dayton needs our help! We've coordinated with local health care systems (Premier Health) to create and deliver over 600 face shields already, but unfortunately are running low on materials and funding to procure more. 3DPrinting technology can quickly and cheaply transform spools of plastic filament into face shield visors that are attached to transparent plastic sheets to create an additional protective barrier between COVID-19 patients and the healthcare workers that are treating them. These are NOT a replacement for N95 masks, but are used in addition to them to extend the useful life of the N95 masks (which are also in very short supply). The visor portion can be 3dprinted in 30-40 min/ea per 3dprinter, using less than 20g of plastic material (approximately $0.40/ea). Additionally, the face sheet is punched or laser cut out of a standard transparency (approximately $0.30/ea). That's only $0.70 per shield, which is significantly less than they could be purchased for (assuming sufficient PPE supply). We've already purchased enough material to make the first 1000 face shields (provided 600 to Premier Health), but need additional funds to buy more materials. We are using the 3DVerkstan model  (US_letter_v3), and have teamed up with Masks For Docs  to provide these materials for free to healthcare workers in the Dayton, OH area.
