Brain Trauma Rehab for Daniel Rayne
Donation protected
On November 14, 2015, my 38 year old son Daniel Rayne suffered a traumatic brain injury following a fall in Portland, Oregon. He spent 10 days in ICU for a total of 21 days at Oregon Health and Sciences University Hospital and is now in a rehab facility near Portland. His recovery has been long and slow, and due to his Medicaid status, he is only eligible for 3 days per week of therapy sessions. He cannot speak or walk at this time, but has recently been able to swallow and will soon be transitioned off the feeding tube in his stomach. It has been very difficult emotionally, as his Mom, to be so far away, travelling back and forth to Portland the past nearly four months, as well as the financial burden it has incurred.
The family is requesting donations for extra therapy sessions, medical transportation for Dan to California to be in a facility near his family after his skull reconstruction on April 1, and for funds towards the first month at a brain trauma rehab facility in California while he establishes residency, until he can qualify for California State aid and SSI for the duration of his recovery.
We appreciate all the prayers and concern sent our way during this heartbreaking time. Any donation will be most helpful towards reaching our goal of having Dan fully functional and back to his "old self."
