Afterlife and medical care for Joe

(Update: Joe passed away on August 7th surrounded by love. We are heartbroken but will always cherish the memories and the difference he made in our lives. Rest in peace Joe Ryan Dawson. We love you.)
Hello. I’m hoping you can help my parents. My 57 yr old step-dad was diagnosed with heart failure in mid June of this year. He quickly declined and last week underwent a 7 hour surgery to install a heart pump called VAD. It initially worked but he has suffered multiple complications and setbacks. He is currently on maximum care at UW and will not survive. We are now faced with planning his after care and need financial assistance. We are devastated to lose him, especially at such a young age and certainly are not prepared for the high cost of funeral services and looming medical bills.
In order for Joe to get the best care he needed he was transferred to UW med in Seattle. My mom has had to travel back and forth from their home in Port Angeles. The cost of 2 months of gas and hotels is overwhelming.
Joe is/was a joyful, loving man who loved me, my brother and my mom unconditionally. He brought happiness to every occasion and has become the glue that holds us together. He is/was a Karaoke legend who brought the house down with “Baby Got Back”, and “Ice Ice Baby”. They have three dogs and along with all the pups in their neighborhood he is known as a bit of a dog wrangler. He’s always treated my Donna as one of his own. Lovingly referred to as her “Grandpa Potato”. He is/was a very creative and artistic person. Always puttering around the house, rock tumbling and repurposing old wood furniture.
It’s surreal to think of him not being in our lives. My hope is my family can process and grieve this loss without the added financial stress. Thank you.
