A "Call" to all Poker Players!

I have set up this “Go Fund Me” page for a friend, fellow poker player and poker dealer in hopes to help with all of the out of pocket expenses associated with the dreaded disease – Cancer!! More importantly to try to make this difficult journey a little easier financially for Jimmy and his family…
It is with great regret and a heavy heart that I would like to take a moment to share with you an unfortunate situation regarding one of our poker family members. Jimmy “the EPT & Poker Dealer & friend” has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. It was about a month ago that Jimmy could no longer stand the pain and went to finally see a doctor. He went to the hospital, which they performed a CT Scan….. They promptly called him at 7:00 a.m. the next morning with the news. As to be expected, this came as a great shock to Jimmy and his family. Unfortunately, because it is Stage 4 they cannot operate. He will have another biopsy to determine what type of pancreatic cancer it is. Miraculously, they seem to think it is the lesser of the 2 types and that chemo could work well and would give him some quality time. Once they do the biopsy they will do a celiac block to deaden the nerves to help alleviate the pain, as the prescribed meds are not helping. Chemotherapy will begin August 31, Sept 1st and 2nd to see how it goes. I will keep you posted on how all treatments go….
As all of you know, or maybe you don’t know….. Jimmy is the type of person that would help anyone in their time of need… You’ve heard the saying….. “He would give you the shirt off his back”…. Well in this case, it is true!!! I have worked with Jimmy on several occasions and he has always been THE most pleasant, unassuming, likeable guy anyone could meet or know!!!!
In speaking to Jimmy…
Jimmy has been in a long term relationship with the love of his life Ruthann for 35 years!! That’s right….. 35 years!!! They are not married, as they do not have children… If they did, Jimmy said “they would have been married”… Ruthann is currently out of work and on a very fixed income. Jimmy is currently working as a dealer for EPT, but with all the pain and appointments it’s difficult to work to bring in money for simple daily living expenses…… such as Food!!! Rent!! Gas money to get into Boston for treatment…. Parking etc… So very many expenses that are associated with the development and treatment process are not covered by medical insurance. Which brings me to the topic of Insurance…. Medical, Disability, Life Etc.. Unfortunately, Jimmy does not have the best of insurances and is relying entirely on Mass Health to give him optimum care in regard to his health …. He has NO disability insurance, therefore no income…etc…
Being an insurance rep myself, I see all too often the expenses that families face as a result of the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. 66% of all costs associated with the development and treatment are not covered by medical insurance. Lost wages, lost wages of a spouse, co-pays, deductibles, gas money, food, parking, prescriptions not covered etc… These expenses I speak of are during treatment, daily living and regrettably final expenses etc…. The list could literally go on and on and on…….
This is why it is so important for us to help if we can. No amount is too small. My main objective is to make sure that money is not an obstacle or object during this time!! I want to make sure that he has all he needs to focus on getting well, healthy and comfortable!!
I am spreading this page throughout our poker community and personal friends. I ask that you do the same. It will be greatly appreciated!
On August 30th we are holding a fundraising Poker Event for Jimmy. The buy-in is $200 . Please let me know if you’re interested… If so, I will give you further details…. Message me here please.....
If for some reason you can not make it, I have created this page so that if you would like to donate, you can.
Thank you in advance for your help in making this journey a less painful one for Jimmy, Ruthann and his family.
