Congress of Future Medical Leaders
My name is Kimberly, and I am a 12th grade High School student in Los Angeles. As a little girl, constant visits to the doctor for myself and my father for diabetes and asthma, respectively, gave me a great admiration to the commitment that doctors have for their patients. Their dedicated service to their community through medicine is a goal I strive for as a career. As I have already shadowed a few physicians, my passion to become a doctor has increased. And, as a result, I’ve created a Medical Club in my school, where I am able to guide students like me who are interested in medicine to start volunteering and participating in activities that can enrich their future.
I received a letter written on September 10th, by the National Academy Science director, saying I was nominated to be a delegate representing the state of California at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders being held June 23 to 25, 2019 in Boston, Massachusetts.
This conference is highly selective and honors superior academic high school students interested in the profession of medicine that show outstanding leadership potential.
Attending this conference would be a great opportunity for me to expand my knowledge in this field and enhance my passion to truly make a difference, and one day make my dream of becoming a doctor come true.
Unfortunately, because my older sister is the only one helping me financially, and I am a full time student, this program goes beyond our budget. Any donation would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your time,
Kimberly V
