On the morning of Thanksgiving Day, Ashley received a call from her security system that her house was on fire while she was out of town with family for the holiday. Ashley and her husband, Luke, rushed home immediately to assess the situation. When they arrived, they realized the damage was devastating. The hot water heater had caught fire that morning and burned the entire backside of their home. Once the fire was put out, the roof partially collapsed, and the weather didn’t help the situation, with the rain adding extensive water damage to the home. The master bedroom and bathroom were destroyed, along with my nephew’s room and all their belongings in it. Along with this, the smoke and water damage has made the entire home now unlivable.
This devastation comes just months after the family was able to move back into their home on Easter of this year after finally being repaired from the hurricanes of 2020. Their family has been displaced since the hurricane for the past two years waiting on insurance to fix their home. After months of fighting their insurance, they decided to fix the hurricane damage themselves to get back into their home. After moving back into their home this year and still fighting the insurance company they learned that their insurance company filed bankruptcy and they would not be compensated for their damages.
Once again, Ashley and her family are displaced from their home. Anything donated is appreciated and will go directly to her family to help them repair their home, along with displaced living expenses they will have to deal with once again.
