Nadine's Unfinished Journey

Donation protected
This page is on behalf of my very good friend Nadine. The most amazing woman I have ever encountered. A friend to all, always there to support everyone around her (friend or foe), she has always put herself last. It is finally her turn to come first. Recently Nadine was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. This ugly disease has wreaked havoc on her body. The doctors say that the tumor is inoperable but they want to try chemotherapy and radiation to try to shrink it. The thing about Nadine is she is all about quality of life. She has led an amazing life thus far, traveling the world, obtaining just about every goal she set her mind to, holding a position at any job you could think of, having two wonderful sons, and "adopting" many children along the way (myself included), just recently she became a first time grandmother, her little bucket of love has been a wonderful addition over the last few months...
Over the course of the last 15 years Nadine has become all too familiar with cancer. She has battled the god awful disease three times already, each time miraculously surviving on just the power of positive thinking and a holistic approach to riding her body of the relentless cancer cells. Breaking the odds that she would survive without chemo and radiation, she had the doctors in awe of her progress.
As is all too common these days, people around her began finding out their own prognosis of cancer. She's watched a countless number of her friends and family be riddled with the disease; they would do the chemo and then they would become a shell of what and who they used to be. The chemotherapy seemed to be killing them faster than the cancer itself. Prolonging their life at the expense of the quality of life in their last few months. Nadine vouched she would not let chemo kill her. And as testament to the power of positive thought she has survived three different types of cancer thus far.
Unfortunately, this latest discovery is a bit different. The surgeon is unable to cut it out. It is attached to her nerves and veins beneath her clavicle and is causing loss of sensation, with the exception of pain. She has lost the use of her left arm and is in constant pain due to the swelling and drainage accumulation. This has also begun to move down to her leg. For someone who has always been so active and so independent in her life this is an incredibly hard struggle to be asking people for help.
With the bleak prognosis, researching alternative therapies was in full effect! As fate would have it a clinic called Hope4Cancer popped up http://www.hope4cancer.com/ . Nadine began reading about the therapies they offer and found some really wonderful things, she contacted the representative, had a long and educational conversation, then scheduled a daytrip down to the clinic in Tijuana, Mexico so she could meet the Doctor, the other patients, and tour the facility. We went, we saw, and now we are conquering! Nadine has been at the clinic now for almost 2 of her three week protocol. It's a rough routine but she is showing great signs in recovering. It will be a long road ahead, and there are a lot of changes incurring in her life that will be permanent. So to all her friends out there, she'll still be the same wonderfully positive and vibrantly beautiful woman, she just has less to carry in her purse, or her golf bag ;)
Thank you for taking the time to read this plea. It's long, but I condensed it as much as I could. This woman is incredible. She could have multiple books written about her life. Trying to convey her amazingness in a few paragraphs is a hard feat. But anyone who knows her would vouch for her and the need for her in this world. Her journey is not yet over.

In regards to the goal price being $10,000, its just a number, an intimidating one, but in no way is it meant to make anyone feel like even 5 dollars is too little. No amount is too little. With the 136 friends that Nadine has on facebook if each person just threw in 20 bucks we could hit about $2,700, which is great! and the more people who see this and feel like they could offer something, the better! so please share, and it doesn't even have to be money, a positive thought or prayer is a wonderful gift as well!
