Caring for Joy Laframboise

Donation protected
In August of 2013, my mother Joy Laframboise was diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors at Windsor Regional Hospital proceeded to give my mom a double mastectomy in early September. Unfortunately, by the time the surgery was completed the cancer had spread through her tissue causing them to move forward with chemo-therapy. She endured 8 months of chemo-therapy, followed by a year of Herceptin treatments. During chemo-therapy my mother contracted sepsis, a blood infection and luckily pulled through after being hospitalized for almost 2 weeks. In February of 2015, the oncologist told my mother she was done with treatments at her body responded well to them and that she would not need to come back until August for her 6 month check up. In August when my mom went back for her check up, the oncologist cleared her and told her the cancer was gone. Suddenly in mid November she started feeling very sick. I took her to the emergency room and they ran multiple tests, she was then diagnosed with A.L.L. leukemia. This is the most severe type of leukemia. My mom was then hospitalized for a month and is now in and out of the hospital for chemo-therapthe treatments, blood transfusions, and bone marrow tests, and is now awaiting a bone marrow transplant. She will be receiving the transplant in Hamilton Ontario, and luckily has two matches. However, my mother is struggling financially, as she is on a fixed disability income from a previous back injury. As of now, we have no running vehicle and we live in a very tiny one bedroom apartment. She also has no medical coverage so when she comes home after her transplant, she will have to pay for her prescriptions. She needs a walker as well which is only partially covered. We are asking for donations to help pay for prescriptions she will need after her transplant, gas money and parking money so my brother and I can go see her often while in the hospital. I myself am a full-time college student only working part time, and unfortunately I do not have the ability to help my mother financially. I would like to thank everyone in advance for all the support, thoughts, and prayers. Even the smallest contributions will make a big difference.
