Helping Elias Receive IVIG Infusions
Elias was born with a rare condition call congenital lobar emphysema. He had lung surgery at 5 months old and again at 17 months old. He has had numerous hospital stays and struggles on a daily basis with respiratory problems. Elias also has been diagnosed with a rare condition condition called hypogammaglobulinemua. This is a immune disorder in where the body has a reduction in gamma globulins and can't fight infection like it should. As a result of having this condition Elias had recurring bronchitis, pneumonia, ear infections and sinus infections. He already had many respitory problem due to having to have the majority of his left lung removed and not being able to fight off infections are hard on his body. Recently Elias started receiving IVIG infusions to help his body fight these infections and he was doing well, until his insurance started to deny the infusions. We along with his pulmonologist and ID doctor have appealed the insurance company's decision. We have had no luck and will not have his case heard for the final appeal until July when the insurance company has their next committee meeting. These infusions cost around $5,000 and we're trying to raise money to be able to get him his next infusion. He was due in March but was not able to get one. All money raised will go directly to helping pay for an infusion. Thank you and God bless!
