Help Save 1st Cup Cafe

Dear Family and friends,

For the past 7 years our family ran 1st Cup Cafe & Restaurant bringing a fusion of Somali and American cuisine to south Minneapolis. We grew up taking shifts, spending long days and nights helping our parents run the restaurant they dreamed of.  It is more than a restaurant, it functioned as a gathering place for the community, and a sanctuary for many new immigrants seeking like minded others in Minneapolis.  

Like many other businesses in the area we’ve been looted and vandalized and have extensive electrical, water pipe, and gas pipe damages. All of our equipment have extensive damages as well.

Our family is fully supportive of the protests and stand in solidarity with  George Floyd's family, and our Black community. Lives unlike property can NOT be restored.

Due to COVID-19 we've struggled financially and have faced reduction in hours of operations. 

Please help us restore our restaurant and cafe so we can continue serving our community.
