Aaliyah's medical expenses.

Hello, my name is Karina and I am raising money for my Aaliyah and her family. She is gravely ill, with Peritonitis Amongst a bunch of abscesses and a ruptured appendix.

backstory:

We thought she had the flu, we took her to urgent care twice in one week and she was misdiagnosed twice saying she had a very very bad uti. I did a telehealth visit with another dr that said he thinks there is something way more going on then a uti and called the ER for us and had us go there. They did bloodwork and ultrasounds, initially they said her white blood count was super elevated and her gallbladder is extremely swollen with no signs of stones and the wall is thickened. They were really concerned because that’s not common in young children. They opted to do a CT scan, they found her appendix ruptured AND she had 3 abscesses, one on her gallbladder, one behind and on her liver and one on her large intestine with 4 pockets of pus through ther abdomen. They transferred us to a children’s hospital with the quickness. They couldn’t find a safe entry point to drain the pus and the abscesses. They were going to open her abdomen 12 inches up and 8 inches across but again the imaging showed that the location of the abscesses would make that surgery extremely, extremely dangerous. They were worried they would damage her liver. So she has been monitored and given two different antibiotics, probiotics, 3/4 different pain medications, anti nausea medication and some other things along the way. Trying to get her healthy enough to get to the next step: surgery. It’s been a long almost 2 weeks for our family. And we still have a long way to go. It’s so hard watching your child suffer and there is nothing you can do about it.

Peritonitis is usually infectious and often life-threatening. It's caused by leakage or a hole in the intestines, such as from a burst appendix. Even if the fluid is sterile, inflammation can occur.
