The Barger Family

Donation protected
Hello! Megan and Matt are two of the hardest working individuals I’ve ever met. They work tirelessly to provide for their two lovely children and are always willing to help where they can. The holidays have already been a struggle for them after Matt was unemployed for a bit and they were attempting to survive on one income. Matt found employment recently as a temp employee at a factory but as life tends to do sometimes, emergency struck unexpectedly on December 29th. Matt was out running some errands then when he arrived home he realized he was having trouble breathing and was unable to keep his oxygen levels up. They rushed to the local ER and then were transported to Saint Joseph in Lexington where he went into emergency surgery and had a tube placed in his chest. Matt had suffered a spontaneous tension pneumothorax which would have been fatal had he not rushed to the ER. Matt has now been hospitalized for three days and when they attempted to remove his chest tube he declined again and now has a handy dandy tool inserted on top of his chest to help keep air pockets from forming and collapsing his lung again while they try to figure out exactly what’s going on.
What does all this mean for the Barger family though? They’re struggling and Matt may very well lose his temp job he just got due to missing work for this emergency. They were already behind and now they’re going to fall even further behind. My goal is to raise funds to help them get through this tough time and be able to catch up on some bills they were already struggling to make prior to this event. It’s hard enough dealing with medical emergencies without worrying about money loss from missing work, rent, utilities, gas for traveling back and forth, food for the family and the pets, and everyday expenses. Any help I know would be greatly appreciated and I couldn’t think of a more deserving family. When it rains it pours and nobody knows this more than this family.
Working so hard to stay afloat and survive only to have life kick you when your down is hard on anyone. If we can lend a hand in any way whether it be $1 or $20 I just know it would go a long way.
