Ashlie's Medical Bills

Ashlie Jones, is an 18 yr. old vibrant and beautiful young woman. She just graduated high school & began college, to pursue her dreams of becoming a nurse. Just over a month ago, a lesion was found on her brain. The doctors weren’t sure what it was, so they did many tests and started her on a very high dose of steroids, in hopes of preventing any more and to reduce the inflammation already present. Over this past month of steroid treatment, the tests came back pointing towards multiple sclerosis. A follow up MRI this week, not only confirmed the MS diagnosis, but showed 4 more lesions. She was officially diagnosed with a very aggressive form of MS, and admitted into the pediatric ICU at the Cleveland Clinic. She began a treatment, called plasmapheresis, which will be done a total of 5 times over 7 days. There are a lot of unknowns, but the doctors emphasized the need to attack this very aggressively. At this point in time, she will begin having Rituxan infusions, in hopes of managing the current flare and preventing further ones.

Ashlie is just starting out in her adult life, now facing a very scary medical prognosis. Ashlie does have good health insurance, but it doesn’t cover everything. Her coverage is only at 80%, after all deductibles and copayments are met, with the Cleveland Clinic being considered “tier 2” (the plan doesn’t have to accept their charges for services).

I wasn’t sure what to ask for, so I started with what is owed now, before the hospital stay. Any financial help donated will go towards her current and future medical bills.
