Please help George Troy fight this MALIGNANT MELANOMA CANCER. 16 year old Emily is a natural artist. She created this watercolor to encourage her dad, George, to "keep on swimming"Several months ago, George Troy noticed a mark on the bottom of his heel. Since he works in a body shop, and does side-jobs in his garage to make ends meet, he thought maybe he stepped in some stain or paint. Months later he felt pain under his heel. His first instinct was to work through it. He looked at it and thought it was a Plantars wart, so started treating it. When it didn't improve and seemed to get bigger, his wife, Angie, encouraged him to see a doctor. The doctor took a biopsy, and the following week they got the call: "it's Malignant Melanoma, Large and Aggressive". They referred George to specialists at Northwest Memorial Medical Center. Angie and George were concerned that their health insurance plan would not cover the care at Northwestern. Unfortunately they had no choice. He needed advanced specialized care - quickly. The physicians at Northwestern found that this aggressive cancer had already spread to his lymph nodes. Blood tests, MRIs and CT scans were done. Thankfully, for now, there is no evidence that the cancer has spread to other organs. Unfortunately, they were told he would need to repeat these tests frequently, as microscopic spread of this aggressive Melanoma was likely. George had his first 4.5 hour surgery to remove the tumor on his foot, and 13 inguinal lymph nodes on April 26th. He was discharged on the 29th. His second surgery on May 15th will involve a skin graft to rebuild his foot. He will not be able to work for 6 weeks after surgery. They are meeting with an oncologist on May 9th to discuss immunomodulating therapy and/or radiation. This additional treatment may result in several months of unemployment. George and Angie have always lived within their means, and worked hard to make ends meet. But, with medical bills filling their mailbox, and him being unable to work, those ends won't meet. Emily and George Jr are doing their best to help with things. Angie and George have always gone out of their way to help others. They would be eternally grateful if you could help to pay their medical bills and household expenses. Prayers will truly be appreciated. Thank you so much
