A friend is someone that is there when you need help, a shoulder to cry on, a helping hand and someone that you could always count on. When Kristen and I think of a friend we think of Janine.
We have known Janine since we were little girls in Holy Spirit School together. Janine is an amazing friend someone that will do anything for you no matter what. Now Janine, Joel and their beautiful family are in need of our help more than ever. Janine and Joel's three year old son Luca has been diagnosed with cancer.
Luca Ataide, is a happy, sweet, outgoing, three year old who needs our help and prayers. About two weeks ago Luca started having leg pain, not sleeping well and walking with a limp. After many doctors appointments, ER visits and tests they have found a 7.5cm tumor in his pelvis. Luca had a biopsy of his tumor June 23, 2021 and we will know the official diagnosis in a few days. Unfortunately the doctors feel strongly that he has cancer.
This has come as a shock to all of us and has been especially hard for Janine, Joel, Julianna 8, Olivia 6. Janine and Joel have spent the last week by Luca's side at Morristown Memorial Hospital. No one should have to endure watching their child suffer the way they have the last two weeks.
Luca is going to need months of chemotherapy and radiation. Janine and Joel will spend the next few weeks getting expert opinions from the top children's cancer hospitals. The costs associated with time away from work, travel and his care will be a tremendous financial burden. We know the family truly appreciates all the love and support offered thus far. But as her friends, we are now asking if you are able to provide some financial assistance as well as prayers.
Luca is a warrior and is ready to fight this disease with all he has. Help us help Luca and his family. If you are unable to donate financially please continue to keep Luca in your prayers. He is truly a beautiful child inside and out. He is always smiling even through the pain. We know he has a bright and healthy future ahead of him.
