Make A Difference In A Child's Life

My school, Sallie B Howard School for the Arts and Education, serves underprivileged and underexposed students in North Carolina who very seldom leave the county they are born in. The 8th grade team is trying to create opportunities to expose these children to the real world outside the county where they can widen their horizons and acquire 21st century skills. While studying Ecology, we would like to take a trip to the YMCA located in the mountains of North Carolina. This trip would allow our students to participate in real world environmental activities along with activities designed to instill team building and character building. As a result of this trip, students will be able to compare the ecological settings of the plains with the ecological settings of the mountains. We do not want to deprive our children of this opportunity because of transportation expenses. That is the bulk of our cost. We know there are people like you who would like to make a difference in a child's life. Thank you for helping our children see beyond the classroom.
