Fighting for sex workers' rights
Thank you for visiting my page.
I have devoted my life to sex workers' rights and am currently fighting criminalisation of sex work in the North of Ireland and the Republic of Ireland too. I'm taking a case as the lead plaintiff both sides of the border. It's going to be hard work, but worth every minute. The abolitionist groups I fight are funded to the hilt, I'm not. I rely solely on my personal income and donations.
On September 28th 2016, I was granted leave by the High Court in Belfast to have the Northern Irish law passed in 2015, overturned. It puts sex workers in danger and goes against the worldwide recommended decriminalisation of sex work. We are back in court very soon, June 2017, to get dates for the full hearing.
I have set up this page specifically to raise funds towards my expenses, it's a very costly process. This is about as stressful as it gets, but it has to be done. We deserve the right to work in safety. 154 sex workers have been murdered since 1990. It stops now.
Your donation helps towards travel, hotels and childcare. I can't do this without you. If an online transfer/cash deposit to a Santander account is preferable please just drop me an email and I'll give you the details.
Follow me on Twitter - @GlasgaeLauraLee and I will update you regularly with the progress I'm making.
I will continue to fight for the rights of sex workers to work in freedom and with the protection of the police, not persecution.
In solidarity.
