Help Sonya Fight Breast Cancer

Donation protected
July 29th, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 2A Her2 breast cancer.  There are two cancer tumors in the right breast and two lymph nodes. Luckily cancer hasn’t spread outside the lymph nodes. My mom is also Her2 positive, which is a protein that makes cancer cells grow faster.

My warrior mom started chemo on August 25th.  She will have chemo every three weeks for a total of 16 weeks.  Then she will have surgery and radiation.

Besides fighting breast cancer, my mom is also fighting Crohn’s disease.  She had her colon removed in January and has an ostomy.

Getting chemo and having an ostomy is challenging because you become dehydrated from the drugs.  That means my mom has to go to the infusion center to get hydration and other supplements while undergoing chemo.

The missed days from work also means missed dollars from her paycheck.  My mom used up most of her FMLA leave during the surgery in January and only has a few hours of PTO left.  Fortunately, health insurance is picking up most of the treatment costs. But there are expenses she’s already paid out-of-pocket, like Neulasta injection co-pay ($300 per injection).

My mom is the strongest person I know.  She’s determined to fight cancer with the same vigor she’s fought Crohn’s disease.

Please consider a financial donation so my mom can concentrate on healing.
