Bill's Battle

Donation protected

On July 21st, Bill Ziegler was involved in a life-altering accident.  While riding his bicycle that morning, a driver struck him from behind.  He was transported by life-flight to UPMC in Pittsburgh where he was initially diagnosed with a fractured C7 vertebrate, multiple broken bones, bleeding on the brain, a concussion, and severe lung and chest trauma.  It was unknown to doctors whether Bill would survive.  He was in a comatose state for days and was placed on a ventilator in the ICU.

Bill would have to fight for his life.

Bill's Battle
But Bill is not known to be a fighter.  Anyone who has met him would describe him as soft-spoken, gentle...docile even.  There is not one intense or harsh neuron in his body.  Apparently, though, he was saving every last fiber of ferocity for this unthinkable battle.  Because for the first time in his life, Bill would fight.

After multiple tests, surgeries, medical procedures, and spending weeks in the ICU, Bill progressed enough to be relocated to Greenbriar Healthcare Center in Boardman, Ohio.  He has an incredibly long road to recovery ahead of him.  Though he can speak and has feeling and movement in all of his limbs, he is not yet able to eat on his own and has limited range of motion.  His memory wavers due to the trauma to his brain.  Still, Bill battles on.

Bill's Warriors

Perhaps the reason for Bill's fierceness is the fact that he has so much worth fighting for.  His family has been battling alongside him; Lori, Morgan, Marissa, and Jared have been his rock throughout this difficult time.  Countless friends and relatives have proven to be his warriors by offering ceaseless prayers and hope .  His coworkers & peers from Riverside School District and Doubletree by Hilton, who have grown to truly appreciate Bill's dedication, miss his knowledge, swiftness, and kind demeanor.  Together, they continue to show support for Bill and his family.

Together, we make one heck of an army.

Daily trips to Pittsburgh (and now Boardman) can take a toll on any family.  Travel expenses, parking, medical bills, daily household chores and assistance are all physically, emotionally, and financially draining.   Your donation of any amount will provide Bill and his family with some relief from crippling medical expenses, daily costs of living, and other unforeseen costs that the Zieglers may face during these critical months.

Bill's recovery regimen and timeline is unknown.  Please use this opportunity to support Bill and his family during this difficult time of uncertainty.   Fight alongside the Ziegler's and join Bill's Battle.
