Hello Everyone:
I am ashamed to have to resort to this request but I am in a dire financial situation. Back in 1988, I was in a tragic train accident and was, literally, run over by a train. This caused me to lose both of my legs below the knee. I struggled for months to learn to walk again and then began sports medicine training. As a result, I was selected to be a member of the U.S. Paralympic team that competed in Barcelona in 1992. I ran in the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints.
However, adjusting to normal full-time working outside of my home proved to be very difficult because I was living in New York City and had to navigate subway stairs and prosthetic devices were not as reliable then as they are today. I had several breakages in public and had to resort to working from home.
I am now living in Miami Beach and have been concentrating on starting a business I can run from home for the past two years. My first income payment from this business is due to be paid to me within the next six to eight weeks. I will finally be able to stop receiving disability checks, which have managed to sustain me, along with credit cards.
Unfortunately, my credit has been fully utilized and my disability check barely covers my rent. This leaves me with an incredible financial shortfall each month. I need phone and internet to run my business, food, electricity, medications and funds for unexpected emergencies.
In addition to these monthly expenses, I have fallen three months behind in my rent and my landlord is planning to start eviction proceedings by the end of this month. I have no funds for moving expenses and my credit has eroded to the point where I would not be accepted by any rental office. I do not even have funds to secure supplies for the upcoming storm.
This is a short-term problem that will be solved as soon as my income starts to flow. I am hoping and praying that there are some kind-hearted people out there who can help me avoid becoming homeless and having to place my two cats in a shelter, which will probably lead to euthanasia.
I need to try to raise enough money to cover a few months' rent and other expenses until I can get back to supporting myself. I am not sure exactly how much that will be but my monthly expenses are roughly about $2,000 (two thousand) dollars.
If I can be helped through these circumstances, I will be forever gracious. I will make certain to always do the same for others whenever possible.
Sincerely,
Milton
