Save Hossam and his Family
Donation protected
We are Hossam's friends in the US and raising money to help save Hossam and his family's lives.
Many of you have become familiar with Hossam’s posts highlighting the difficulty of life since the war began. Like many others, Hossam, his two sisters, brother and parents have been surviving a terrifying and indiscriminate war for over two months now.
We’re organizing this fundraiser on his behalf to help him and his family find safety out of this war zone, and to another country.
We are committed to supporting his family find safety as there is nowhere safe in the besieged strip and seemingly no ceasefire on the horizon. 100% of the funds collected will be used to get Hossam’s family to safety. We will send him the money via western union or via our contact in Egypt
Here is Hossam's message:
Gaza has been my home for the last 22 years. In other words, it has been the only place I have ever known throughout my life. During that time, I have seen the horror of five wars. My hair turned white from the fear and death that I have seen, growing up to the smell of gunpowder and blood. Now, I am living through the most ferocious war the whole world has ever seen. I lost my best friend in the world because of this war, did you know that? I picked up his remains, his shredded body with my bare hands. Ibrahim was his name. He and I had so many goals and dreams, but not so many pictures. Why? Simply because everytime we're together, we're so busy making memories that we forget to document them. And it's not just Ibrahim, but also his 28 of his family members. And it's just his family, but also thousands of families in Gaza. It's gotten so terrible that you can't find a person in Gaza who hasn't lost someone.
After mulling it over for quite sometime, I have decided to put my video presenting skills to work. I have tried to document how the daily lives of Gazan unfold throughout these troubled times, while also trying to show the hopeful side of the people. For instance, I had the pleasure of going around in schools (that have turned into refugee camps), with the purpose of helping children forgot about the ongoing onslaughts as far as a few blocks away. Children smiled, laughed, and danced, and a sliver of hope was planted their hearts and mine, yet once my foot steps out of the school grounds, I am once again reminded of the harsh reality that life in Gaza is no more.
And I'm not exaggerating, life in Gaza has been disrupted greatly. Schools, colleges, malls, hospitals, etc. You name it... It's gone. Our future is grim and with no gurentee of safety, work, or even the most fundamental elements of decent living. I wanted to be recognized as the joyful and dreaming young Gazan who didn't allow such difficult circumstances to break him, framing my picture in the reality of what is going on here. However, I can't do it with my family's well being and future on the line.
From that point, my family and I have decided that it's time to leave for now, or at least until the war ends. It pains me to think of leaving my beloved home in this state, but I have to ensure the safety and future of my family above all else.
Unfortunately, money is a the biggest obstacle we are facing. That's why I need your help. My family and I are trying to raise $50,000 to get us out of the war zone to safety in Egypt. Your donations will be the lifeline for us and literally be the difference between life and death for six human beings.
Rest assured that 100% of the donations will be used for helping us get out of Gaza, and sustain our life for a short amount of time until we can settle down, and get on our feet. Any help you can give would be very appreciated.
