Help Jesper Laursen Beat Cancer
Donation protected
In February 2019, my boyfriend Jesper Laursen was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. He had been having digestive issues for a while, and after several doctor's appointments, a CT scan confirmed colon cancer that had spread to his liver and lungs.
Needless to say, his cancer diagnosis came as a complete shock. At the time, Jesper was working a full time job and devoting an additional 30 hours a week to voluntary humanitarian work.
Over night, our lives changed completely and we have spent the past 10 months fighting his cancer. When Jesper was diagnosed, he had A LOT of cancer in his body and his chances weren't looking good to say the least. But after six months of intense chemotherapy and targeted therapy, supplemented with cutting-edge oxygen treatment and other complementary therapies, his cancer had shrunk by 60%! An exceptional response that opens the doors to better and more effective treatment options.
The next step for Jesper is treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where he will be treated by the world's most advanced colon cancer specialists. The plan is for him to undergo liver surgery which will save his life. Because of the extent of Jesper's cancer, this operation will require very highly skilled surgeons and advanced equipment which is not yet available in Denmark. The estimated cost is about 100,000 USD.
As our medical insurance doesn't cover any treatment in the US, we will have to pay all medical bills up front in cash. By continuing to work several jobs, we have been able to cover our regular monthly expenses, and extra treatment has been done using our savings and with the help of close friends and family. However, at this point we will need more help!
We plan to leave for NYC in February, after two more rounds of chemotherapy here in Copenhagen.
Any and all contributions of any size are HIGHLY appreciated. We will keep you updated along the way. Thank you so much for being there and helping us.
Let's get Jesper cancer free in 2020!!!
Lots of love,
Jesper and Alexandra
