Our Journey

Ross and I have both always wanted a big family, but we have had difficulty getting pregnant. We have been through testing and treatment with a fertility clinic called CNY Fertility. The doctors recommended trying a few cycles of a treatment called IUI before moving on to IVF. While the success rates for IUI are much lower than IVF, it is a less expensive and less invasive treatment option, so we decided to try 3 cycles. We completed 2 IUI cycles, and both were unsuccessful. Due to unexpected circumstances, we were not able to complete our 3rd IUI cycle as we had planned, and we have instead decided to move toward IVF. We are planning to complete an IVF cycle in March.

There is no doubt that this journey has been hard for both of us and not what we had pictured starting a family would be like. We are more than ready for this season to be over. Through all the prayers, emotions, waiting, and unknowns, I am so grateful that we have had the unchanging character and promises of God to cling to. I have been learning that God’s plans and timing are often different from our own and that He is in control, not me. Throughout this process, we have been forced to trust God with our desire for children, our future, and the very next step. We are so thankful for our families and friends who have walked with us and encouraged us through this season. As we prepare for this next treatment, we would love to have you praying for and with us. You can pray for a smooth treatment process, peace, the ability to trust God, and that God would bless us with a healthy pregnancy.

Because our health insurance won’t cover any fertility treatments, this journey has brought many expenses. So far, we have spent close to $8,000 on testing and treatments, and the initial cost of IVF will be $6,828. Of the total cost, $2,983 would go toward medications and $3,845 would go toward the treatment procedures.
