Let's Help Laurie

Hello, My name is Amy Dempsey and I am trying to raise funds to help my sister, Laurie Chesser, with medical and household bills. As most of you know, Laurie currently has breast cancer. She has already undergone a double mastectomy, the first half of her reconstruction surgery and months of chemotherapy. She is now in the process of discussing radiation with her medical team. Laurie has handled this situation like a true Badass! She has still shown up for anything her kids may need; she has continued to work (when able to) and continues to be supportive of any needs her family or friends have. Even if you haven't personally gone through cancer, I'm sure you can imagine how horrible it is.

The past 2 years have been a massive struggle for Laurie. In 2020 she found out she had Aortic Stenosis and underwent surgery for a valve replacement. In 2021 she contracted a rare blood infection and was hospitalized for a week, along with having a Pic line for antibiotics for several weeks. Again, through all of this, she has pushed aside how she is feeling physically and emotionally to still be as present as possible for all of those who depend on her. In February of 2020, Laurie went in for a routine mammogram (It was supposed to be in November 2021, but due to being on antibiotics to fight her infection, it was postponed). Right away, they told her that her results were abnormal and set her up with several doctor appointments. Within a month of her breast cancer confirmation, she had a double mastectomy. What wasn't expected was that the tumor had grown and spread. She had to have 16 lymph nodes removed, and 4 turned up positive for cancer. This news meant she would have to do chemotherapy and radiation (which wasn't initially expected).

As you can imagine, the bills piled up quickly. Laurie has never asked for help through any of this. She never wanted to "bother" or "inconvenience" anyone. However, it is to the point that help would be greatly appreciated. Laurie has never wanted to be in the "spotlight" for cancer, so I know it was hard for her to accept help, but she needs and DESERVES the help of her support system. I would love to raise enough money to relieve some of the stress of finances. Having cancer is VERY expensive.
