Help Save Officer Green's Vision

Kyle Green is a 30-year-old father and husband. Kyle is a military veteran, and he has been a dedicated Patrol Officer for the Cortland City Police Department since 2009.
Kyle was recently diagnosed with an eye condition known as Keratoconus. Keratoconus consists of a weakening of the cornea tissue in the eye that causes the cornea to thin and bulge into a cone shape causing distorted vision. The condition will continue to progress if left untreated, and could eventually degrade Kyle's vision to a level where he will experience difficulty leading a normal life.
Thankfully there is a treatment available to help stop this vision loss. Kyle will be undergoing surgery in Toronto, Canada shortly. The procedure he is receiving is called Corneal Cross Linking. The doctor will peel back the top layer of Kyle's eyes and soak his corneas with drops of vitamin B2. They will then expose the eyes to UV light to cure the cornea. This hardens the corneas to stop the progression of the disease. Next, Kyle's doctor will use a laser to re-shape the corneas the best he can. This procedure should stop the condition from progressing any further. The doctor that he is seeing says the procedure is nearly 100% effective.
The difficulty with this procedure is that it is not currently approved by the FDA in the United States. This is why Kyle will be traveling to Canada to have the surgery. Since the procedure is not yet approved in the United States, Kyle's health insurance will not cover any of the bills for the procedure, or the multiple follow up appointments that will be required.
