Kelly's Medical Fund

Kelly is a Social Worker.  She just finished her Master's Degree in December after getting married in September. Kelly and her husband, Nathan, have been honeymooning in Belize. Wednesday, they enjoyed a day of snorkeling at the beach, after which Kelly complained of a bad headache.  Thursday morning, Nathan had to rush Kelly to a local hospital in Belize with stroke symptoms.  Complications arose and her medical condition worsened.  Kelly is currently in a medically-induced coma and on a ventilator, which is needed to keep her breathing.  She underwent a surgery to reduce the swelling in her brain.

Understandably, Nathan is shocked and overwhelmed at the moment.  Being in a foreign country with a language barrier makes things difficult under the best of circumstances, but when a medical emergency is involved, things become increasingly strained and anxious. While her care is the obvious top priority, there have also been some financial issues, as the local hospital may not accept her insurance being in a foreign country. 

Currently family and friends are trying to arranage medical transportation to get Kelly back to the United States.  

Medical emergencies are always unexpected and create undue stress for the individuals involved.  In this instance, Kelly's husband and family are under exceptional stress, as she is in a foreign country with significantly fewer medical resources than would be available in the US.  Any donation you may be able to provide would go a long way toward helping with Kelly's mounting medical bills in Belize, the vast expense of getting an unscheduled medical flight back to the US, and helping Nathan meet his unexpected expenses.
