AuBree's Place

AuBree is 17 months old and was born with Spina Bifida and spent the first 3 months in the hospital on her tummy, due to a spinal opening too large to adequately close. This led to a severely elongated head. So much of her head is in the back, that balancing it is a big challenge for her. She is paralyzed from the waist down. This is a permanent diagnosis but we hold out hope for a miracle. 14 surgeries has made for a LOT of difficult days for our little sweetie pie, and we know there are more in her future. We'd REALLY like to make her future as comfortable and happy for her as possible. As you can imagine we often find ourselves face with expenses that insurance doesn't cover. We want to make available any and all treatments that will advance her physically and mentally. AuBree is very bright and we would hate to see her progress impeded just because of financial limitations. Our current goal is a specially made seat that is necessary because of the bone protruding from her lower back. Orthopedics at Shriners in SC has expressed the need for an additional surgery on her feet. This will be the second such surgery. The last one required weekly 7 hour trips to SC for cast changes for 8 weeks after surgery. As you can imagine this can be incredible expensive. Also the family doesn't have reliable transportation to make these trips and even just to take AuBree to her many regular doctors appointments. Please look in your heart and give what you can even if its only $5 it all adds up!
