Mom's Meningioma Surgery
Donation protected
My mother, Lisa, was recently diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumor. This type of tumor is benign (non-cancerous) and curable, but due to its location and large size (around that of a tangerine) it's been giving her seizures, causing her to lose consciousness, and has affected her general motor skills. It's also causing dangerous swelling of the brain, which is likely the source of the migraines she's been living with for years, and without surgical removal could impair her even further.
That big white thing up there is the tumor, and it's being removed on Friday the 30th of this month (8/30/13), but with the surgery and the 6-10 day hospital stay my family is probably looking to foot a bill anywhere from 75,000 to the upper hundred thousands, depending on how the surgery goes and how long she's an inpatient. She doesn't have health insurance and won't be able to work until October at the earliest, so the bill coupled with living expenses will make it very hard for her and my younger sibling to get by.
I'm going to try to help out as much as possible, but clearly I can't do it on my own. Any donation at all will help and be tremendously appreciated.
